Indian badminton star HS Prannoy will look to continue his pursuit of the title in a first-round men's singles clash against Danish player Anders Antonsen. Simultaneously, the Indian men's doubles pairing of Satwik and Chirag, will take on the Indonesian pair of MS Fikri and B Maulana. Viktor Axelsen remains the standout player as he aims to defend his title and bag a third Malaysia Open title in a row. However, the Dane faces tough competition from players such as China's Shi Yuqi, Li Shifeng, Kodai Naraoka, Jonatan Christie and Anthony Ginting.

Axelsen faces a tricky first round match against Singapore's 2021 world champion, Loh Kean Yew. Yuqi, Anthony and Jonatan are the other seeded players in Axelsen's half of the draw.
