With this, China overtook its own mark at the 2018 Jakarta Games, where the nation had ended with 289 medals. The 297 medals at this edition so far include 161 gold and 90 silver. China's dominance at the event can be gauged from the fact that no other country even has as many total medals so far as China has gold. Japan is a distant second with 130 medals, including 33 gold, and South Korea is close on Japan's heels with 32 gold (139 medals in all).
