A Grand Inauguration Ceremony Of IPU Health Mela

The grand IPU Health Mela being organised by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University ( GGSIPU ) was inaugurated today at Talakatora Indoor Stadium, Delhi in the august presence of Shri Amit Yadav, Chairperson, NDMC: Prof. M. Srinivas, Director – AIIMS; Ms. Alice Vaz, Secretary – Higher Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi; Dr. Jitendra Prasad, Additional Director – DGHS and University Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Mahesh Verma. This mega health event is being organized to mark the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the University.

The event opened with more than 15,000 registrations on the first day. People from different age groups queued up to get medical examinations and consultations from more than 50 specialized medical stalls set up by reputed government and non government medical organizations.

The ceremony started with a warm welcome address by Vice Chancellor Prof . Mahesh Verma. In his address, he said, "This Silver Jubilee is a milestone for us. It's a proud moment as IPU has consistently maintained the highest academic credentials by obtaining NAAC A++ ranking, securing remarkable 74th position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), and earning 1401st position in the QS World University Rankings. We believe in promoting modern values alongside traditional wisdom."

Prof. Verma also talked about University's commitment to sustainability and climate change initiatives. He highlighted the University's dedication to community welfare. "Our vision goes beyond education. We have adopted 25 villages and are actively working for the welfare of the people in these communities. We will continue contributing to community development with such initiatives in the future as well” he added.

Dr. M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, lauded IPU's efforts in promoting preventive medicine and Ayush, acknowledging the University's commitment to the well-being of both students and the general public he said, "IPU Health Mela provides a comprehensive spectrum of health services, from preventive medicine to Ayush kiosks and blood donation drive. This initiative will undoubtedly benefit everyone." Ms. Alice Vaz congratulated the University for the grand event and applauded it for the achievements accomplished in 25 years. She further added that with continued dedication, the University will soon achieve a higher rank in NIRF.

Shri Amit Yadav, Chairperson of NDMC, congratulated the University on its 25th anniversary, commending its service to the local community. He praised the IPU Health Mela and its diverse range of stalls, offering services in Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Allopathy, and more. He encouraged students to participate in this vital event and extended his best wishes for IPU's next 25 years.

The IPU Health Mela featured 50 stalls catering to various aspects of healthcare. Ramesh Verma and Vedika Singh, two beneficiaries of the Health Mela, expressed their gratitude for the valuable health services provided.

The Health Mela includes dedicated stalls representing the Ministry of Ayush, GoI, and various councils for research in alternative medicine. Additionally, prominent healthcare institutions such as the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, Indian Spinal Injuries Centre - Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr. RML Hospital have set up consultation booths at the Health Mela.

The event opened with more than 15,000 registrations on the first day. People from different age groups queued up to get medical examinations and consultations from more than 50 specialized medical exhibits set up by reputed government and non government medical organizations.

A huge number of people visited the Ayush Pavilion to avail consultations in Ayurveda and Homeopathy. The millet stalls too attracted wide audience with their innovative recipes. Several young students enthusiastically participated in CPR and First Aid training sessions organized at the venue throughout the day.

The event became vibrant with the rangoli, folk dance, quiz, on the spot painting, classical vocal solo, one act play, battle of bands and nach baliye competitions and made the youth groove with vibe.
