Overcoming anxiety is not an easy feat. And there isn't a one-size-fits all solution that will work for everyone. 

It's also worth noting that there's a sizable difference between clinical anxiety and merely feeling anxious. If unsure, it's always best to contact a qualified professional to assess one's situation individually. In some cases, doctors will prescribe certain pills to help manage the symptoms of anxiety in some that actually require it.

That being said, I'm gonna be sharing some of the things that have worked for me, and might be useful for those looking for natural home remedies for anxiety.

In a quest to overcome anxiety, many turn to natural methods, as they don't want to be putting any questionable chemicals in their body. 

And in no way does using home remedies guarantee anxiety will be treated, but I will certainly share what has helped me in managing and sometimes significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety to the point where I rarely get anxious thanks to this.

Everything I mention here is purely my experience and applicable to my situation, and may or may not be helpful to others. If uncertain, one should always contact a primary care physician as they should be able to provide the most solid recommendations. 

I’m not completely anxiety-free, but I'm definitely seeing an improvement and a new version of myself that my old self wouldn't recognize. 

That being said, here are some of the things I did to significantly reduce and in some days even make my anxiety unnoticeable.

1. Meditation

Meditation can help calm the mind and enter a deep state. Some desire to always be in a meditative state, as it helps them approach life in an overall calmer way, which might prove beneficial for the anxiety in some.

For me personally, I've been able to see a significant reduction in my anxiety after consistently meditating. 

The benefits of meditating are endless, but it can take some time before the benefits of meditation start to show, but in some, the benefits can come rather quickly. 

Some might find that with their first meditation, they're already feeling far better than they did before, and many opt to continue the practice. 

Meditation can be useful in finding that balance between mind and body, and when I myself enter a meditative state, I find that my worries start to fade, and many times, these worries are what causes that anxiety in the first place.

Many tend to overcomplicate meditation, but I find that I can enter a meditative state just by listening to my thoughts closely without judging them as good or bad, but instead, letting them flow without intervening or somehow trying to control them.

I often find that the more I try to control a thought, the more resistance I find, and the thought winds up becoming stronger in some cases that I try to erase it from my mind.

Thus, I've started to let things flow and as a result, I've noticed that thoughts that were persistent and intrusive no longer get in the way for me and no longer create as much anxiety as they used to.

2. Working out

This might seem simple, but the adrenaline rush I get with working out combined with the sheer amount of focus on the task at hand makes me forget about the anxiety. 

Exercising is something most want to incorporate in their day to day routine, and it's no surprise considering the additional benefits it can provide such as overall contributing to better health and preserving youth. 

Not only does working out provide me with momentary relief against anxiety, but the relief can stay consistent as I work out.

For me personally, it has served as a tremendous treatment for anxiety, and based on what I've read from other users on the web, they are also noticing sizable benefits from incorporating workout in their day-to-day life. 

Ever since I started exercising, I've also seen a significant reduction in panic attacks, to the point where I almost went from having them every other night to not having these attacks at all. 

There's nothing but good to gain from exercise, so long as I don't overdo it to the point of damage. 

Working out can also make some more confident, therefore, reducing social anxiety. At least, in my experience, my self-image improves nine out of ten times when I exercise.

3. Writing

I find that writing and/or journaling can be pretty therapeutic, as well as allowing me to spend a bit more intimate time with myself and get to know myself. 

Whenever I'm writing, my mind often enters a meditative state and that flow state of concentration allows myself to be fully immersed in the experience. While I'm at it, my worries start fading away and it gives my mind clarity.

In my case, writing down my goals and writing down how I'm gonna get closer to said goal often gives me a sense of direction, and that sense of direction helps keep the anxiety at bay. Otherwise I feel like I'm in no-man's land.

Writing creates this clear pathway for me to walk and makes my mind more solution oriented as opposed to problem oriented. 

The more I think of solutions, the more hope I find, and it's often a lack of hope that creates a level of anxiety whereas having this hope is what provides me this anxiety relief I'm after.

4. Herbal Teas

Chamomile and tea made of Tila flowers have often helped to relax my body. It has also helped to sleep better at night, and I often find a correlation between how anxious I am and how the quality of my sleep has been, as well as how much I've slept at night.

Sleep is extremely important and many dismiss it, but I believe it can increase the risk of anxiety sooner or later, and it’s just a matter of time. 

Lack of sleep can lead to serious health complications that most would want to stay away from. Let's not talk about insomnia, as that could prove detrimental for anxiety symptoms. 

Tea is not for everyone, in some cases, tea might make someone more alert than coffee and can even be harmful for relaxation and sleep, and by extension, worsen anxiety symptoms. 

For me personally, I've been quite selective about which tea that I take, and in my case, my experience with tea has been overall positive.

At times, anxiety is believed to be correlated to a lack in certain vitamins, be it B or B12. Certain teas are abundant in vitamins that might be useful to manage anxiety symptoms, and in the best case, make them unnoticeable. 

There are various herbal remedies that claim to help users with anxiety, and some of these remedies have several testimonials backing them. 

5. Avoiding or Reducing Caffeine

Avoiding both caffeine and energy drinks has helped me reduce my anxiety quite significantly. As I could remember the times where I'd chug a cup of coffee or have an energy drink and it wouldn't take too long for me to feel like I was in an attraction park, riding a roller coaster.

Some might find that caffeine relaxes them but that hasn't been the case for me. Therefore, I'll personally be staying away from caffeine or at least, significantly reduce my intake, and at times removing certain habits can be what it takes to move the needle towards a more anxious-free lifestyle. 

Many that often feel anxiety are likely to feel like it's a pipedream or at least a far fetched dream, because I used to feel that way. 

These habits combined and sometimes just one of these habits have transformed me into a new person. In the past, there would've been a version of myself anxious and worried about every minute detail I couldn't control, whereas nowadays, simply avoiding coffee has been my natural anxiety remedy.

Caffeine on the other hand may help some in feeling more alert throughout the day, which some might find prove beneficial for anxiety, since being aware and in control of things might reduce the anxiety from not feeling in control and alert of things.

6. Being Present

I find that being in the present moment often goes hand in hand with being in a meditative state. I've been able to train my mind more by not worrying so much about what's about to happen, or what already has happened and adopting this mind state has allowed me to live a lifestyle with a significant reduction in anxiety.

The more present I am, the more I can focus on the task at hand and the less of a chance anxiety has to direct my attention to something unpleasant. This is something worth golden for my peace of mind and being present could be achieved through consistent practice and adapting the mind to being present.

I find that it's difficult for me to be stressed out or worried about something if I'm in the present, and it gives me some kind of freedom I don't believe I would've had if I had not been present. 

There are several other ways to be present aside from meditating, such as going for a walk, even doing a workout or doing something healthy that the mind finds enjoyable. It could be baking or it could even be writing something.

The ability to be present throughout the day, I see as a gift. But one that came with a lot of trial and error but that was worth it in the end.  

7. Learning a New Skill

Keeping the mind occupied with something has been a big one in keeping the anxiety at bay. Whenever I'm learning a new skill, I associate that with working toward a goal and having a clear sense of direction. 

Almost as if I'm feeding the mind allowing myself to enter a new realm of knowledge and wisdom. Learning a new skill might seem simple, but it's a way to expand the mind into uncharted territory, with that territory often coming with pleasant surprises.

It can be rewarding to learn something new and having this sense of progression has in my experience mimicked the sense of progression I get when playing a game. Except that instead of leveling an in-game character, I'm leveling up myself in real life, and I find that to be far more gratifying and useful for my anxiety. 

There's a sense of joy that comes with leveling up in a game, but to me, that sense of joy doesn't come anywhere near as leveling up in real life. 

Often, when I level up in a video game, I wind up a little bit more anxious knowing my character progresses whereas I don't, and it adds a level of pressure on my shoulder that, by extension, builds this anxiety up.

Learning something new can be both challenging and rewarding, but that's often where I find my salvation from the anxiety I try to get away from, in the first place. 

It also brings a level of pride and progress that makes me want to push through and develop myself further. I have found that self-development and anxiety reduction have gone hand in hand for me.

8. Spending More Time With Nature

I love mother nature and going outside. Be it going on a bike trip or simply going on a walk, I've found it has been extremely therapeutic for my mind to relieve itself from anxiety. Whenever I get the chance, I'll pick up my bike and stop by the forest, wander around as I start counting my blessings and how grateful I am about the things that go well.

Nature is a fantastic place to study, immerse myself with my surroundings and even meditate. It can be very healthy to spend time in nature for many, and it's also believed that those that live close to nature experience a higher quality of life than those who don't. 

That has at least been the case for me, I'm often tempted to spend every waking minute of my day in nature, but due to responsibilities, it can be tough at times.

There are various ways to remedy anxiety naturally that go beyond what I've covered here. There's also no one-size-fits all way to reduce anxiety.

Everything I've covered here is merely what has made me have a more meaningful day to day with a significant reduction in anxiety. Anxiety would otherwise always find its way to get between me and an enjoyable day-to-day life. 

To this date, I haven't had the need to seek external help as these things alone have helped me come a long way.
