- Enduring pressure as well as helping out in de-escalation on the Indo-Pak border in the coming months;
- Dealing with international attention on the conduct of J&K elections;
- Tackling international concerns about non-proliferation because of the recent Indo-Pak tension; and
- Developing better relations in the neighbourhood which has been characterised by stagnation, even deterioration.
Others say Sinha’s biggest advantage is he can use his experience as FM to provide the much-needed economic focus to the functioning of the MEA, combining this dimension with those of politics and security in our foreign policy. This is one ministry where Sinha can easily live down the sobriquet of being a rollback minister.
