1. 4.05 pm (Oct 1, 2003) TIRUPATINaidu leaves Tirupati for Tirumala , 13 km away, by the ghat road. He is seated in the front of his bullet-proof Ambassador with a minister and two MLAs at the back. The attackers knew Naidu's exact car in the convoy.
2. Three kilometers from Tirupati, convoy slows down as it takes a turn on the ghat road.
3. 4.10 pm (Oct 1, 2003) TIRUPATI-TIRUMALA ROADImmediately after the turn , claymore mines are detonated, ripping the car in which Naidu and the others were travelling. The detonation was triggered by a camera flashgun wired to the mines. The blast throws the car off the road. The three-inch steel plate of the bullet-proof Ambassador takes most of the impact, the back of the car takes the brunt.
