A man, said to be in his thirties, died of a heart attack while playing cricket in Uttar Pradesh's Noida on Sunday. A camera on the ground captured the incident, showing the man collapsing in between the game.  

The deceased has been identified as Vikas Negi (36), an engineer.

The footage shows Vikas Negi running towards the other side of the pitch to take a run and collapsing midway, prompting others on the field to rush towards him.

He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by doctors, an NDTV report said.

The police then took his body for post-mortem and reports have ruled heart attack as the cause of death.

According to preliminary findings, Vikas Negi was a victim of Covid, but was healthy, the report mentioned. To keep himself fit, he would often play cricket in Noida and Delhi.

In a similar case from Noida, a 52-year-old man died last year after he collapsed while playing badminton at a stadium in Sector 21A.

The man suffered a heart attack and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. The deceased was identified as Mahendra Sharma, a resident of Sector 11, Noida, police said. This incident took place in June.
