Charges:
cheating, forgery, criminal conspiracy (IPC 419, 420, 467, 468 471 and 120-b), rape, dacoity
The erstwhile minister of state for home started his political career in the late 1960s, shifting loyalties among the major political parties. Ostensibly taking up cases of the downtrodden, he terrorised the local administration, which finally attached his property in Araria. After the ensuing outcry, a special committee of the Bihar assembly investigated the charges against him—and concluded that the attachment of Taslimuddin's property was justified.

The MP faces at least 16 cases of robbery, arson, rape and dacoity. One FIR on wrongful confinement, lodged under IPC 342, quotes an eyewitness as saying that the MP and two associates brought a young Santhali girl home, drank alcohol and "then did the wrong things with the girl all night".

Now, less than one month after he was forced to resign from the UF Government, Taslimuddin is once again in the eye of a storm. The secretary of Bihar's Mata Gurjri Memorial Medical College has charged the former minister and his associates with trying to extort Rs 5 lakh from the institution. The matter was raised in Parliament by Akali Dal MPs.
