What is your reading of the Congress’ prospects?
I am confident that a Congress coalition government under the able leadership of Sonia Gandhi will be in place in the Centre. It will also succeed in forming the government in Karnataka.
The BJP claims it would get a ‘decisive mandate’, that Karnataka would be its gateway to south India.
I’ve been going around the state for the last 15 days on the Vijaya Dundhubhi Yatra addressing people. I can understand the pulse of the people. I am still looking for the so-called ‘Atal wave’. I have seen large crowds of people waiting for me for hours wherever I have gone and this has given me a lot of confidence. Although I do not wish to term this as a ‘wave’.
Do you think Deve Gowda’s JD(S) is hurting the Congress’ voteshare, at least in the Old Mysore region?
The Congress has its own loyal and traditional share of votes and the JD(S)’s vote bank is different from this.
Has your shifting out of Maddur assembly constituency sent a wrong signal?
As chief minister I belong to the entire state. So how can there be any ‘wrong’ signal from my contesting in a constituency in Karnataka?
