Owing to the shortage of medical equipments, staff members at a Bihar Hospital used a Sprite bottle instead of a urine bag on a patient on Monday night. As per media reports, the patient was brought to Sadar Hospital in an unconscious state.

After thorough examination, it has been reported that the doctor instructed the assisting staff to provide the patient with a urinal bag and administer an insulin injection along with a gas pipe for resuscitation following which, the hospital staff attached a Sprite bottle instead of a urine bag, risking the life of the patient.

As per media reports, the patient's family failed to reach the hospital manager, Ramesh Pandey on Monday night. After being informed of the situation, the necessary arrangements were made on Tuesday morning.

When questioned about the negligence of the hospital, Ramesh Pandey, in his defence, said that he was unaware of the shortage of urinal bags at the hospital and made arrangements as soon as he received information.

"The person in charge had suffered a leg fracture. Hence, I wasn't informed about the shortage of medicine," Ramesh said, adding that arrangements for the required supplies were made.
