In the newly formed Bihar cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, portfolios were assigned on Saturday.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar retained the Home department while allocating the finance portfolio, traditionally held by his party JD(U), to the new ally BJP, according to an official notification.
Samrat Choudhary, one of the two Deputy Chief Ministers, has been assigned the finance portfolio, a responsibility that BJP has consistently undertaken when sharing power with the JD(U) president.
Vijay Kumar Sinha, e other Deputy Chief Minister, has been entrusted with significant portfolios, including agriculture and road construction, as specified in the notification.

Vijay Kumar Chaudhary has been entrusted with the portfolios including water resources, transportation, education, parliamentary work, building construction and information and public relations.
Meanwhile Bijendra Prasad Yadav has been given the responsibility of energy resources, planning and development, prohibition and regulation of products, rural work and minority welfare.
Prem Kumar has been assigned with the portfolios of backward class welfare, disaster management, environment, forest and climate change and tourism.
Shrawan Kumar has responsibilities of rural development, social welfare along with food and consumer protection.
Santosh Kumar suman has been entrusted with Information technology, scheduled caste, scheduled tribes welfare.
Sumit Kumar Singh has been given the responsibility of science, technology and technical education.
