Arjun Munda Appointed Union Agriculture Minister After Narendra Tomar's Resignation; 3 Other Union Ministers Given Additional Portfolios

President Droupadi Murmu accepted the resignations of Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Singh Patel and Renuka Singh Sarut and assigned Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda the additional charge of the Agriculture Ministry.

President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Union minister Arjun Munda as the new Agriculture Minister, following the resignation of BJP leader Narendra Singh Tomar. The President also accepted the resignations of Prahlad Singh Patel and Renuka Singh Saruta, who successfully contested the recent assembly polls,

Arjun Munda is the current Minister of Tribal Affairs and a former Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Narendra Singh Tomar tendered his resignation from the Union Cabinet today, a day after stepping down from his Lok Sabha membership. His resignation comes in the wake of his victory in the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections.

Meanwhike, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar has been given additional charge of Jal Shakti as MoS.  Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, has been assigned the charge of the Minister of State in Food Processing Industries in addition to her existing portfolio.

Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar has been given additional charge of the Minister of State in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

As per the rule, the membership of two houses can be retained only for 14 days. In light of this, the BJP has directed all its Members of Parliament who emerged victorious in the assembly polls in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh to resign from Parliament and focus on their respective assembly constituencies.
