The Healthy Indian Project (THIP), a health literacy initiative that runs the online platform THIP Media and the monthly print magazine Life Raksha, has been recognised with the Outlook Business Nation Builders Award as India’s Most Trusted Health Information Platform.

The award, presented as part of Outlook Business’ annual Nation Builders initiative, honours organisations contributing to India’s progress through innovation, transparency, and social impact. THIP was chosen for its work in improving access to credible, easy-to-understand, and verified health information—at a time when misinformation about health and medicine remains a growing challenge across digital spaces. “This one is special,” said Neelam Singh, Editor of The Healthy Indian Project. “We have been working hard in our mission to provide credible health information to Indians so that they can take better health decisions. Today, thousands of Indians use THIP’s content and fact checks to save themselves from online health misinformation and also to find answers to their health questions. Our multiple international certifications and associations keep a constant check on our content quality. There are over 200 doctors who support us in building this content. This award goes out to all their dedication and support.”

Working to improve health literacy and counter misinformation, THIP has developed a network of digital and print initiatives that reach diverse audiences across the country. Its flagship platform, THIP Media, publishes medically reviewed articles, explainers, and videos covering a wide range of topics—from chronic diseases and preventive care to nutrition, vaccination, and mental health. The organisation also brings out Life Raksha, a monthly magazine that presents expert-driven health information in accessible language for readers in both urban and semi-urban areas.

THIP’s credibility is reinforced by several international affiliations. It is a signatory to the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), a member of the World Health Organization’s Vaccine Safety Net, and the first Indian health website accredited by the American Accreditation Commission International (AACI). These recognitions reflect its commitment to transparent editorial processes and adherence to global standards in health communication.

In recent years, THIP has broadened its work beyond journalism and fact-checking to include health education and insurance services. The organisation has launched THIP Academy, which offers short, expert-led online courses on various health topics, and has recently received an IRDAI licence to operate as a corporate insurance broker, extending its mission of guiding people toward better-informed health and financial decisions. THIP’s emphasis on accessibility, verified information, and community education aligns with national public health goals focused on digital inclusion and preventive care. As misinformation continues to distort public understanding of science and medicine, THIP’s recognition at the Outlook Business Nation Builders Awards underscores the growing importance of credible, people-centred health communication in India.
