In a long post and video, Preity Zinta clarifies that it was on the sets of her film ‘Soldier’ with Bobby Deol that he started jokingly calling her Pritam Singh. While the two went on to become great friends over the years, the nickname has stuck and it has somehow made its way to even Wikipedia and is being referred to as her real name. Preity Zinta is mighty outraged by this fact and wants to settle the score once and for all about what her real name is.
Preity Zinta’s Rant
Taking to Instagram, she posted the clarification video with the caption, “Over the years I have consistently read in various media articles that I have changed my name from Pritam Singh Zinta to Preity Zinta. I have tried to set the record straight so many times by telling everyone that, on the sets of “Soldier” @iambobbydeol called me Pritam Singh as a Joke ( pls ask him why he chose that name when u meet him 🤩) The movie became a blockbuster, our friendship flourished & since then Pritam Singh - the name is still stuck to me….. Bachaao 🙈 So one last time folks - Pritam Singh was NEVER my name. Preity Zinta also opened up that post her wedding, she has added the G from her husband’s surname Goodenough to her name. However, she was careful not to add the G at the end of her name otherwise it would have sounded quite like the Hindi term ‘ji’, which usually is used for respecting people while referring to their names. So, what Preity Zinta decided was to add the G in the middle and now her final name stands as Preity G Zinta.
Bobby Deol’s Reaction
When the video started to get popularity on social media, it was none other than the flavour of the season Lord Bobby Deol who saw the post and decided to share his views on the same.

Bobby Deol couldn’t stop himself from commenting on the same and once again referring to Preity Zinta as Pritam Singh. He apologised for the confusion being created by also joking puller Preity Zinta’s leg. He wrote, “Preetam singh I gave you this name It suits you but sorry didn’t realise it would confuse people I love you my Preetam singh ❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗 (sic).”
Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta have indeed been great friends since the time the two did ‘Soldier’. Their tales of friendship have been legendary and it feels nice to see that the same equation holds on even to date.
