The teaser for the second season of Yaiba: Samurai Legend anime was unveiled on Saturday during the AnimeJapan 2026 event. The second season was announced after the first season ended in September last year. The second season will cover the "Kaguya Arc".
Ami Koshimizu will play Kaguya and Kōki Uchiyama will play Tsukikage
YAIBA Samurai Legend Season 2 teaser unveiled
The show has been re-adapted from Gosho Aoyama's manga that ran from 1988 to 1993. Takahiro Hasui directed the anime series at WIT Studio, with series composition by Toko Machida. Character designs and chief animation were done by Yoshimichi Kameda, with music by Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa.
The synopsis of the show, as per the official website, reads: "The protagonist, Yaiba (Kurogane Yaiba), is a wild samurai boy who trains in the jungle with his father, Kenjuro! By chance, Yaiba returns to Japan, where he meets his rival Takeshi Onimaru, who has the same samurai spirit as Yaiba, in a new training ground. Yaiba is living a life of serious competition, but when Onimaru obtains the “Legendary Demon Sword”, he is on a journey full of spectacle and great adventure...!"
YAIBA: Samurai Legend premiered on April 5 on YTV, NTV, throughout Japan. The second cours (quarter of a year) was released on June 28. The first season aired for 24 episodes.
The anime is available on Netflix in North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand. It also streams on Hulu in the United States.
The premiere date of the second season has not yet been announced.
