With Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ and Vicky Kaushal's ‘Sam Bahadur’ being released on the same day, let’s check out how well the latter has done on its day 1 of release per box office collection.

With a tough competition between the two films, according to sacnilk.com, the Meghna Gulzar directed film has earned ₹5.50 crore on the day of its release in India alone, which is lower than 'Animal' which earned about ₹60 crore the same day. As per the the box office report, the Hindi version of ‘Sam Bahadur’ saw an overall occupancy of 29.18% on Friday, December 1.

The film ‘Sam Bahadur’ is based on the life and journey of the first Field Marshal of India - Sam Manekshaw. It stars Vicky Kaushal as Sam Manekshaw, along with Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh who portray Manekshaw’s wife and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, respectively.

The movie has received mixed reactions between social media users and critics. Only time can tell whether it will surpass Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ in the near future.
