In a shocking development at Facebook parent Meta, the head of WhatsApp Pay’s India business has reportedly stepped down. Vinay Choletti, now former chief of WhatsApp Pay India, has resigned from the firm within just four months of taking charge.
As per a Reuters report, in recent months, Facebook parent Meta has seen a series of changes in executive roles. Alongside mass layoffs, many senior-level executives have left Meta Platform Inc., especially in the domestic setup. Joining the list now is WhatsApp Pay’s Vinay Choletti.
“As I move on to my next adventure, I strongly believe that WhatsApp has the power to phenomenally transform digital payments and financial inclusion in India and I look forward to seeing it leverage its potential in the coming years,” Choletti wrote in a LinkedIn post as per Reuters.
Apart from Choletti, WhatsApp’s India head Abhijit Bose, Meta’s India head Ajit Mohan and Meta’s Public Policy Director in India Rajiv Aggarwal also stepped down from their roles last month.
Organisation structure wise as well, Facebook parent Meta has been going through major changes over the last couple of weeks. From mass layoffs to executives stepping down, all have been a part of the changes the company has both imposed and witnessed.
While till now Meta has not officially commented on Vinay Choletti’s leaving, in the past, the company’s main face, Mark Zuckerberg has come out in the open and spoken about mass layoffs happening at the tech giant.
