A Goncalo Ramos hat trick meant that Portugal put in powerful performance against Switzerland and advance to the quarter finals. Cristiano Ronaldo started on the bench and Ramos who started in place of him opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Portugal doubled their lead in the 33rd minute through a towering Pepe header from a corner taken by Bruno Fernandes. Ramos scored his second of the night in the 51st minute, putting the ball in the back of the net from close range. Raphael Guerreiro scored just four minutes later as Portugal broke on the counter. Switzerland got one back through Manuel Akanji but no comeback was on the cards. Ramos, who started his first international game, scored the third of the night as he latched onto a through ball from Joao Felix and dinked it past Yann Sommer. To rub salt in the Swiss wounds, Rafael Leao scored a brilliant goal in the stoppage time.
