Last season's runners-up Newcastle United dumped high-flying Manchester City out of the EFL Cup as Alexander Isak's 53 minute goal was enough for the hosts to secure a win. City who had Erling Haaland on the bench, played a much-changed side as Pep Guardiola opted for seven changes. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe will be delighted with the win as it means progress to the competition that they were so close to winning last season.
