England will be without captain Ben Stokes for the fifth and final Test against India.
Stokes was confident he would be fit to feature at The Oval as England, who lead the series 2-1, aim to wrap up a series victory.
Yet the 34-year-old has now been ruled out due to a right shoulder injury.
Stokes has bowled more overs in this series than he has in any other Test series since his England debut.
England are also without bowlers Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse and Liam Dawson.
Archer returned to action earlier in the series after a four-year absence from the longest format.
Ollie Pope will captain England in Stokes' absence, while Gus Atkinson, Josh Tongue and Jamie Overton have been called up. Jacob Bethell will bat at six.
India, meanwhile, are expected to rest Jasprit Bumrah as they continue to manage the paceman's workload.
England are aiming to win their first Test series against India since their 4-1 victory in 2018, having lost two and drawn one since then.
England team to face India: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope (captain), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Smith (wicketkeeper), Chris Woakes, Gust Atkinson, Jamie Overton, Josh Tongue.
