It’s the kisan’s Nano tractor. Mansukhbai Jagani, a farmer in Saurashtra, has adapted a Bullet motorcycle to create a mechanised diesel-powered plough which can also sow and weed fields. His invention is already a big hit with farmers in Saurashtra as it is cheaper than a tractor. While the latter costs around Rs 2 lakh, the Bullet plough costs only Rs 50,000. As many as 500 farmers now use the machine. The Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute in Durgapur is studying the plough for further value addition.
