Dr Rairu Gopal and his wife Dr Shakunthala run the unique Gauri clinic in Kannur. The consultancy fee is a mere Rs 2. The clinic opens early in the morning and winds up for the day at 1 pm. The couple, who are qualified allopathic doctors, attend to over 100 patients a day. They also dispense drugs at cheap prices by sourcing medicines in bulk. Thecouple like to keep a low profile, and say they don’t think they are doinganything extraordinary."I can’t put up with those who try to mystifymedicine," shrugs Gopal.
