Though he muscled up for ’90s blockbusters like Con Air and Face/Off, for many of us Nicolas Cage’s screen image is stuck in the droopy-eyed, world-weary and loose-gaited dipsomaniac in Leaving Las Vegas (’95). Though his eyes lit up there temporarily at the sumptuous sight of Elizabeth Shue, in real life Cage has been forever on the lookout for the ideal woman. He started conventionally, with actress Patricia Arquette (1995-2001), then had a high-profile tie-up with Lisa Marie Presley (2002-’04). The marriage with actress Alice Kim (of Korean descent) lasted long, from 2004 to 2016, followed by a four-day fiasco with make-up artist Erika Koike (of Japanese descent) in 2019. For bride No. 5 Cage, 57, has chosen, from mainland Japan itself, Riko Shibata, 26, of whom little is known. They were married in Las Vegas, where the well-preserved Cage was in a tuxedo, while Ms Shibata, the scene-stealer surely, wore a black, bridal kimono.
