In a shocking incident, a couple has been arrested in West Bengal who sold their 8-month-old son to buy an iPhone 14 for creating Instagram Reels while travelling across the state.

The incident came to prominence when the neighbours of the couple, Jaydev and Sathi Ghosh, got suspicious about the couple's indifference regarding the absence of their 8-month-old baby who was missing for some time.

What further deepened the doubt amongst the neighbours was their possession of a iPhone 14 of around Rs 70,000 since they had a meagre income and had also went through financial crisis in the past.

Following this, the concerned neighbours reched out to the local Trinamool Congress councillor Tarak Guha, who in turn asked police to investigate.

Alongside the couple, police have arrested another woman, Priyanka Ghosh, who allegedly bought the baby.

It has been reported that Priyanka was taken to Khardah police station. She is yet to divulge details.

Police have filed a complaint against the couple.

The woman who bought their 8-month-old child has also been charged with human trafficking.
