Two MLAs were among six people injured in a road accident at Delhi's busy ITO intersection on Sunday night, police stated.

An out-of-control Swift car collided with the MLAs' Innova SUV at around 9.30 pm, officials stated. The injured legislators are Anil Jha, the sitting MLA from Kirari, and Abhay Patel, an MLA from Karnataka.

All six injured individuals were rushed to LNJP Hospital with minor injuries. Police stated that their condition is stable.

Sequence Of Collision

The accident occurred after the Swift car's CNG cylinder burst, causing driver Ashutosh Pandey, 32, to lose control of the vehicle. Pandey was travelling from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO with his wife and two minor children.

The car hit a divider near the PWD office, crashed through a railing and collided with the oncoming Innova. The SUV, which displayed a 'Karnataka Government' board, was carrying Jha and Patel.

Rescue And Investigation

Passersby and police officers rushed to the spot immediately after the crash. A team from the IP Estate Police Station and the fire brigade cleared both vehicles from the road. Traffic at the ITO crossing was disrupted for a while due to the accident.

The impact left the Swift completely mangled and damaged the front portion of the Innova. Visuals showed that all airbags had deployed.

Police are investigating the exact cause of the cylinder burst and the speed of the vehicle during the accident.
