In response to the widespread impact of Cyclone Michaung, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin declared a relief package, including a Rs 6,000 cash assistance for individuals affected by the cyclone. The financial aid will be distributed in cash through ration shops to those whose livelihoods have been adversely affected.
The Chief Minister's announcement came after a high-level meeting held at the Secretariat, where the damage caused by floods and the necessary relief measures were thoroughly reviewed.
As part of the relief efforts, Stalin has directed an increase in compensation for rain-hit crops, specifically raising the amount from Rs 13,500 per hectare to Rs 17,000 for crops experiencing 33 percent or more damage, including paddy. In cases of perennial crops and trees affected, the compensation per hectare has been raised to Rs 22,500 from Rs 18,000. For rain-fed crops, compensation will now be Rs 8,500, up from Rs 7,410 per hectare.

Furthermore, the solatium provided to the families of those who lost their lives in rain-related incidents due to the cyclone will be raised to Rs five lakh from Rs four lakh. Additionally, assistance for damaged huts has been increased to Rs 8,000 from Rs 5,000. These measures aim to provide crucial support to the affected populace as Tamil Nadu works towards recovery from the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung.
