The Enforcement Directorate carried out searches at multiple locations in Punjab on Tuesday, including the premises of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Kulwant Singh, as part of a money laundering investigation connected to drug-related activities, according to official sources.

Locations in Mohali, Amritsar, and Ludhiana are currently under scrutiny by the federal probe agency, and central paramilitary forces personnel are accompanying the operation.

The ED's actions are being conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and are reportedly based on an FIR filed by the Punjab Police related to a case of narcotics and drug trafficking.

The MLA recently made headlines when Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to take "strict action" against the legislator's real estate company, which was allegedly in violation of environmental regulations in two projects in Mohali. These projects are being developed by Janta Land Promoters Limited (JLPL), owned by Singh.
