Kennewick hosts 9/11 memorial event for Tri-Citians to mark 22nd anniversaryule , check sched

Kennewick will hold a tribute at the Southridge Sports and Events Complex, which houses a piece of World Trade Center steel column. Community members will gather Monday morning to memorialize those who died in the 9/11 terror attacks. 
According to reports, the 35-foot-tall, 6,000-pound steel column was retrieved in a collaborative effort by the city, Lampson International, and the Ports of New York and New Jersey.
It was dedicated on September 11, 2011, the 10th anniversary of the assault. The ceremony, which begins at 6:30 a.m., commemorates the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist assault that murdered 3,000 people at the New York World Trade Centers, the Pentagon, and aboard hijacked airplanes. 
Members of the Tri-Cities Professional Firefighters Honor Guard, as well as officers from the Kennewick Police and Benton County Sheriff's departments, will form the Honor Guard. The memorial will be open throughout the morning, allowing members of the community to join as they are able. The memorial will be the site of all events and  is located at 2901 Southridge Blvd., right off the restaurant and baseball field parking lots on the complex's east side.
Memorial schedule: 
6:30 a.m. - Colors are presented, the National Anthem is played, and the guard is posted. 
7 a.m. - The Changing of the Guard begins every half hour. 
8:46 a.m. - A Moment of Silence is observed for AA Flight 11 and the North Tower. 
9:03 a.m. - A moment of silence will be observed for UA Flight 175 and the South Tower. 
9:37 a.m. - A Moment of Silence for American Airlines Flight 77 and the Pentagon 
9:59 a.m. The LODD bell signaled the collapse of the South Tower and the loss of emergency responders. 
10:03 a.m. - A moment of silence is observed for United Airlines Flight 93 at Shanksville, Pennsylvania. 
10:28 a.m. - The North Tower Collapse and the loss of emergency personnel was signaled by a LODD bell. 
10:30 a.m. - Lowering and folding the flag at the 9/11 monument, followed by the raising of a new flag to commemorate our country's tenacity in the aftermath of the assault. 
10:45 - The colors have been removed and the commemoration events come to an end.
