Even as the dust over the AgustaWestland helicopters is yet to settle in India, the Rome-based group Finmeccanica has quietly changed its name. From January 1 next year, the company will be known as Leonardo SpA after the celebrated Italian painter Leonardo da Vinci. Till then, the company will continue as Leonardo-Finmeccanica SpA to ensure continuity in its relationships with foreign customers. Finmeccanica, which employs almost 50,000 people, said that after a structural revamp that included the sale of its rail business, the company is ready to “redefine its identity.” Any conspiracy theories, people?
