How true to the story of Maria Susairaj and murder of Neeraj Grover is your movie?

My movie is just inspired by the case and does not claim to show the actual facts. It is fiction.

Both Maria and her former fiance Jerome Matthew have served you legal notices.

Yes. My lawyers have replied to them. But I’ve not received injunction notices from them.

What did Maria Susairaj want from you?

She wanted me to show her the film before its release, but I refused.

Most of your movies continue to flop. Isn’t the constant criticism bogging you down?

I make movies on the subjects that excite me. It’s up to the audience to decide whether they like my movies or not.

Many movies are being shot abroad, like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. You never do so.

I make movies on gritty topics like crime, the underworld and horror. I don’t make movies with good-looking people in good-looking locales. Nor do I understand good production values. That’s why I don’t shoot abroad.

Your screen idol Sridevi is returning, in a film directed by Balki’s wife. Envious?

I had no concrete role to offer her, but I am happy she’s making a come-back. I will be the first to watch the film when it releases.

You’re romantically linked to your heroines.

I’ve made eight films with Amitabh, seven with J.D. Chakravarthy. It is only when I recast an actress that the gossip starts.

Have you seen Amitabh’s Aarakshan?

I’m busy with Department. I’ll watch it soon.

Are you doing a film with Chiranjeevi?

Director Puri Jagannath is the first in line. I am hovering in the background.

Rakta Charitra was about Rayalaseema’s factional politics. Would you make a film on the Telangana movement?

I don’t think so, because I am very politically ignorant. Rakta Charitra was more about human conflict than politics.
