'KWK 8': Janhvi Kapoor Turns Emotional Recalling The Moment She Learnt Of Mom's Sridevi's Death: I Barged Into Khushi's Room

On 'Koffee With Karan 8', Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor opened up about their mother Sridevi's death. The actress passed away in 2018.

The latest episode of 'Koffee With Karan 8' was graced by Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. The episode was fun but also an emotional one. The sibling duo opened up about their mother Sridevi's death on the show. 

Recalling how Janhvi came to know about he mother's death, said that she came to know about it through a phone call at home and immediately ran to Khushi. She heard Khushi wailing in her room. 

Janhvi said, “When I got the call, I was in my room and I could hear wailing from Khushi’s room. I think I barged into her room, hauling and crying but what I do remember is she looked at me and the minute she looked at me, she just stopped crying. She just sat next to me and started comforting me and I’ve never seen her cry about it since". The 'Devara' actress said that she was fighting back her tears.

Khushi added, “I felt like I had to hold it together for everyone because I feel like I’ve always been the strong one".

During the show, host KJo also spoke about Sridevi as he revealed how madly he loved her. 

He said, “I have to say one thing you do know and I've said this time and again about how crazy and madly in love I was with your mother. I was her biggest fan''.

“You all have lived through different beats of technology. But for me, the video phase was the cinema halls. Nobody in the side of town that I lived in used to go and watch Hindi movies. That was the phase where your mom and Jeetu ji did movies. I've seen all of them,” 'Rocky  Aur Rahi Kii Prem Kahaani' director said.

He further said, “The time when I saw her finally, in ‘Mr. India’, it was a premiere and the next time in cinema, and I was like, Oh God, I think I'm obsessed. So the first time I met her was actually in 1993 when she did a film for my dad, called ‘Gumrah’ and I went to this photoshoot that Rakesh Shreshtha was shooting and my knees were rattling because I was so nervous. My dad introduced me and I don't know what I said or what I have done and that's also the first day I met Manish Malhotra in my entire life.”

For the unversed, Sridevi passed away in February 2018 in Dubai due to accidental drowning. The actress was with her husband Boney Kapoor Arjun Marwah’s (Boney's nephew) wedding. Her sudden demise sent shockwaves to the entire nation.
