Congress projected to be restricted to just 14 seats; Chief Minister Dhami enjoys broad support across sections of society.
88% support women’s reservation; 70% back efforts to protect Uttarakhand’s identity as Devbhoomi.
Dehradun: A recent ground survey conducted by Times Now Navbharat on Uttarakhand has revealed strong public confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami and the BJP government. According to the survey, if the current public sentiment translates into electoral results, the BJP is projected to win 54 seats in the 70-member Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, while the Congress is projected to be limited to just 14 seats. The figures indicate a significant political trend in the state ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
The survey sought the views of voters directly across different age groups, social categories and key issues, with Chief Minister Dhami receiving notable support across various sections.
On the issue of providing reservation to women, 88 percent of respondents expressed full support for Chief Minister Dhami’s decision, while only 5 percent expressed complete opposition. Similarly, 70 percent of respondents fully supported the Chief Minister’s efforts to protect the identity and original character of Devbhoomi. This reflects public support for the government’s policies aimed at safeguarding the state’s cultural identity and original character.
The survey also showed broad support for Chief Minister Dhami across different social groups. Support stood at 57.3 percent among the Bania/Kayastha community, 50.6 percent among OBCs, 49.7 percent among Punjabi-Sikhs, 46.3 percent among Brahmins, 46.1 percent among Rajputs and 45.3 percent among Scheduled Castes. The figures indicate that Chief Minister Dhami’s acceptability extends across communities and is not confined to any single social group.
The survey also recorded support for the Chief Minister across all age groups. Among respondents aged 18–25, 37.8 percent expressed support for Chief Minister Dhami, compared with 43 percent in the 26–35 age group, 46.8 percent among those aged 36–50, 50.3 percent among those aged 51–60, and 51.8 percent among respondents above 60 years of age.
The survey figures indicate that decisions related to the Uniform Civil Code, a stringent anti-copying law, women’s empowerment, protection of Devbhoomi’s original character, development and good governance have contributed to Chief Minister Dhami’s growing acceptability across different social and age groups.
With the BJP projected to win 54 seats and the Congress just 14 seats ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, the survey presents a major positive indication for the Dhami government. The broader message emerging from the survey is that public confidence remains strong in a government that gives priority not only to development but also to protecting Uttarakhand’s culture, identity and original character.
