Himachal Govt. Delegation Holds Interactive Session With Japanese Industry Representatives At Indian Embassy, Tokyo

An interactive session between the Government of Himachal Pradesh delegation and leading Japanese industry representatives and investors was successfully organized at the Embassy of India, Tokyo.

Shri Madhusudan R, IFS, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, warmly welcomed the Hon’ble Industries Minister of Himachal Pradesh and the accompanying delegation. He highlighted the growing India–Japan economic engagement and the scope for collaboration with Himachal Pradesh in healthcare, technology, and manufacturing.

Shri Madhusudan R remarked: “Japan and India share a time-tested partnership. This interaction further opens avenues for Japanese enterprises to explore investment opportunities in Himachal Pradesh, a state with rich resources and a skilled workforce.”

The Himachal Pradesh delegation was led by Sh. Harshwardhan Chauhan, Hon’ble Industries Minister, Himachal Pradesh, and included three MLAs—Sh. Anil Sharma (Mandi), Sh. Bhawani Singh Pathania (Fatehpur), and Sh. Hardeep Singh Bawa (Nalagarh). Senior officials included Sh. R.D. Nazeem, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries); Dr. Yunus(IAS), the Director and Sh. Tilak Raj Sharma, Additional Director of Industries; two Joint Directors of Industries; and the Project Lead of E&Y LLP. Industry representatives from Himachal Pradesh, including Sh. Amit Goyal (APG Food Division Pvt. Ltd.), Sh. Sanjay Sharma (Care Life Sciences), and Sh. Deepan Garg (Ruchira Papers Ltd.), also joined the delegation.

A detailed presentation by Dr. Yunus, Director of Industries, Himachal Pradesh, showcased opportunities in Adventure and Spiritual Tourism (including the Buddhist Circuit), alongside strategic interventions to strengthen MSMEs under the World Bank-supported RAMP Program of MoMSME. The presentation also introduced the upcoming Reverse Buyer–Seller Meet (RBSM), inviting participation from JETRO, MEJ, and other Japanese associations.

The Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) highlighted opportunities in tourism, ropeway projects, the upcoming Bulk Drug Park, and the Electric Vehicles industry. He lauded JETRO’s work in empowering SMEs and startups, and formally invited them to partner with Himachal Pradesh in these sectors.

Sh. R.D. Nazeem stated: “We are committed to providing a single-window clearance system and investor-friendly infrastructure for Japanese partners. This interaction marks a step toward meaningful collaborations in high-value sectors like medical technology, pharmaceuticals, and precision manufacturing.”

The Hon’ble Industries Minister underlined the State’s vision under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, emphasizing rural entrepreneurship and green industrialization.

Sh. Harshwardhan Chauhan said: “Our government is implementing GoI’s RAMP scheme through initiatives like green financing, smart MSMEs, and green technologies. Himachal Pradesh offers stability, skilled manpower, and sector-specific incentives. We warmly invite Japanese enterprises to visit and explore firsthand the opportunities in our state.”

The session witnessed participation from prominent Japanese leaders, including Ms. Kayoko Beppu and Ms. Anzu Yakushiji (Medical Excellence JAPAN), Mr. Harunobu Hara (JETRO), Mr. Hajime Suzuki (RX Japan), and Mr. Kailashdeep Sharma (ICEPHARMA Japan). Discussions centered on collaboration in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, advanced medical technologies, industrial partnerships, and trade linkages.

The interaction concluded with a vote of thanks by the Embassy, reaffirming the commitment of the Government of Himachal Pradesh and Japanese stakeholders to deepen economic cooperation and explore new avenues of long-term partnership.
