En route to his 21st Test fifty, Pant surpassed MS Dhoni (2,496 runs) to become India's leading run-scorer in away Tests as a designated wicketkeeper-batter, reaching 2,534 runs. He now sits third globally behind Sarfaraz Ahmed and Adam Gilchrist. Furthermore, Pant moved closer to a major milestone in the World Test Championship (WTC). With 2,948 runs, he needs just 52 more runs in the ongoing Test to become the first Indian and the first designated wicketkeeper-batter worldwide to amass 3,000 runs in the WTC.
