Both teams were underdogs when they appeared in the ACC U-19 Youth Asia Cup 2023. Hosts UAE have defeated Pakistan U-19 cricket team that appeared in the semi-final after winning all matches of the group stage. On the other hand, Bangladesh beat cricket giant India in the knockout contest.
In the first semi-final match, after being asked to bat first, the India U-19 team made 188 runs after Maruf Mridha troubled the top order. Musheer Khan and Murugan Abhishek's fifties helped India post a respectable total. Bangladesh batters chased down the target with four wickets and 43 balls in hand. Ariful Islam 94 (90) and Ahrar Amin 44 (101) stitched 138 runs for the fourth wicket and eased the job for the next batters.
The second semi-final match was assumed to be a one-sided clash but UAE fought back and dominated in the game. UAE batted first and made 193 runs after Aryansh Sharma and captain Aayan Khan's knocks. Pakistan's run chase went up and down and eventually, they fell 11 runs short.
