Tamil Nadu: Schools And Colleges Shut In Thanjavur As Unseasonal Rain Pounds The Southern State

As a fresh spell of unseasonal rain pounded the southern state of Tamil Nadu, the schools and colleges of Thanjavur district will remain closed today, said the district collector.

A yellow alert was also issued in 11 districts of Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai, the maximum temperature is likely to settle at 27 degrees Celsius in Thanjavur on Saturday.

Previously, a day holiday was announced for schools and colleges in several districts of the state, including Nagapattinam and Thiruvarur districts.

The IMD department has predicted that normal rain would take place in February in Northwest India. The weather department also stated that cold wave days are also likely to reduce in the coming days.
