Outlook's Rakhi Bose wins Laadli Media Award For Gender Sensitivity 2023. Her story 'Inheritance Of Inequality: Tribal Women, Farmers Struggle To Access India's Succession Laws' won the Best Feature Story award in Print-Magazine category (Northern Region). The story, which was published in Outlook's September 2022 issue (titled 'Such A Long Journey' in print) examines gender disparities in property rights, emphasising legal and technical gaps in India's inheritance laws. It stresses the importance of women's legal and digital literacy, discusses complex succession processes, entrenched societal stigma against widows and unmarried women, and challenges marginalisation of Dalit and tribal women. It also highlights how personal laws fail to address tribals or Dalits, especially communities that permit polygamy, such as the Gamits in Gujarat.

The Laadli Media Awards was instituted in 2007 by Population First, a nonprofit organisation supported by the United Nations Population Fund. The awards honour, recognise and celebrate the efforts of those in news media and advertising who highlight gender sensitivity.
