Mumbai: Bomb Threats Sent To 8 Institutions Over E-Mail, Security Beefed-Up In City

The prominent places including the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Mumbai's Colaba, the Nehru Science Centre in Worli, and Byculla Zoo received bomb threats over mail.

In a frightening incident, at least eight prominent institutions across Mumbai received bomb threat e-mais emails on Friday. As per reports, the list of prominent places includes the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Colaba and the Nehru Science Centre in Worli. The mail also threatened to attack the Byculla Zoo, as per a report by PTI.

It has been reported that the museum received the first mail followed by other institutions also received similar mail.

In light of the atmosphere of fear, authorities have heightened security measures at vital installations in the city while police along with bomb detection and disposal squads checked the reported locations.

Based on the complaint filed by the museum management, an offense under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered against unidentified persons at the Colaba Police Station.
