A man from Hisar district in Haryana was arrested by the police on Monday for allegedly sharing a video on social media that featured a manipulated image of an Olympian woman wrestler. The Haryana police clarified that the 30-second video in question had no connection to the wrestler whose name the accused used while sharing it.
The arrested individual, identified as Amit and hailing from Hisar district, was apprehended in Barwala following a complaint lodged by the wrestler's father with the Jind police, according to Jind's Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ravi Khundia, PTI reported.
"In the 30-second video, the accused utilized a morphed photo of the wrestler. However, the video clip actually featured a different man and a woman. The man seen in the video has since clarified that he was with his female friend. It's important to note that the woman in the video circulating on social media is not the wrestler. The individual in the video has also asserted that he has never even met the wrestler," explained the DSP during a phone conversation.

When asked about the motive behind the accused's actions, the DSP responded, "We will request the court for his remand on Tuesday and conduct further inquiries."
