The inauguration of the Afro-Asian games in Hyderabad looked like a mega event if Doordarshan visuals are anything to go by. It probably also showcased Chandrababu Naidu as a successful event manager. But the city municipal corporation, left to clean up the mess, isn’t cheering. At the end of the colourful ceremony, 100 tonnes of garbage were strewn across the stands of the GMC Balayogi Stadium. Orders from the CM was that the garbage—and there was a mountain of it—was to be cleared before 6 am the next day. Additional trucks, manpower were pressed into service to cart away the garbage.
