Mqm leader Altaf Hussain pressed a numbers game into service to conclude that superhuman forces were pointing to the prospects of momentous changes in Pakistan. "Today is the 17th," Altaf told the London meeting. "Remember what happened in 71? You see, when the number 7 appears, kuch kuch hota hai. Its a momentous number, he said, like the seven seas, the seven heavens.
"Remember 1857?" Altaf asked. "The revolution, the bloodbath. And 1947? The bloodbath, the division of India. In 1947 India broke, in 1971 Pakistan broke. And today is the 17th. And Altaf Hussains birthday. What birthday? The 47th birthday. That number 7, now its all coming together." He then addressed the Punjabis of Pakistan. "Please, do you want Pakistan to stay together?" Returning to the numbers, he said, "When 47 comes together with 17, tab to kuch zyada hi hota hai."
Altaf took the number game further. "And what happens when you add four and seven? You get 11. And when you add one and one? You get two. And seven and two is nine. And we can do nau do gyarah. So let me tell the isi now. Kuch kuch hota hai."
