Sunrisers Hyderabad edged past Mumbai Indians by 3 runs in the IPL 2022 game between the sides at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday night. The win takes SRH to 12 points from 13 games and keeps alive their slim playoff hopes. Talking about the match, Rahul Tripathi's flawless 76 off 44 propelled SRH to 193/6 despite Ramandeep Singh's 3/20. In return, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided Mumbai a solid start (95/0 in 10.3 overs) but once Rohit fell on his individial 48, the floodgates opened for MI. However, Tim David's 18-ball 46 kept them in the hunt until the batter lost his wicket due to poor running. Bhuvneshwar Kumar then bowled a maiden penultimate over and that left MI needing 19 off the last 6 balls. Ramandeep did hit a four and a six in the last over but MI eventually stayed three runs short of SRH's total. (Scorecard | IPL Points Table | Full Schedule)

Rahul Tripathi - Player Of The Match

“I've enjoyed batting at three. It's important that if the openers have given a good start, then continuing that. Or whatever the situation demands I'm trying to learn from that… If it's there and I can take it on, I will definitely go for the shot. If it's not there then I'll just look to take those singles-doubles. To win games is more important, happy I could do that today… In T20 there cannot be a moment where you can slow down. Every ball is an event so I just think what could be the best result."

    SRH Win!

A SIX comes off the last ball but SRH had sealed the game already as MI needed 10 off it. SRH win by three runs and this keeps their slim semifinal hopes alive.

    Another WICKET

18.2 - Ramandeep Singh has been dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and SRH look hot favourites from here. MI need 19 in 10 balls.

Superb bowling. That's a maiden over from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. MI need 19 off the last over.

Tim David is run out! Poor running from David this is. MI need 19 in 12.

  • 17 May 2022 / 11:10 PM

    Lucky Wicket

16.4 - Tristan Stubbs is out! What an unlucky dismissal it is! Tim David hit the ball straight towards bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar who managed to get his hand on the ball before it could hit the stumps and find Tristan way outside his crease.

    MI 149/5 (17)

  • 17 May 2022 / 10:53 PM

Tilak Varma has been dismissed by Umran Malik. The extra pace did the trick for SRH here. It was a short ball and Tilak failed to control it and handed an easy catch to Kane Williamson at short cover. MI need 71 in 35.

    MI 123/3 (14.1)

  • 17 May 2022 / 10:46 PM

    13-Run Over

Daniel Sams, who has been sent early to score quick runs, hit a SIX in the last over of Washington Sundar. 13 runs came off the over and MI now need 79 in 42.

    MI 115/2 (13)

  • 17 May 2022 / 10:39 PM

Another wicket for Sunrisers Hyderabad! Ishan Kishan departs on 43 off 34 and both the MI openers are back in the dugout now. It was a tad fuller from Umran Malik but Kishan failed to hit it over the mid-on fielder. He mishit it in the air and Priyam Garg took a really good catch running backwards.

    MI 101/2 (11.3)

  • 17 May 2022 / 10:32 PM

    Rohit Is Out!

Brilliant bowling from Washington Sundar. He saw Rohit Sharma stepping outside of the crease and hence pulled his length back. As a result, Rohit could not get his timing right on the ball and hit it straight into the hands of deep mid-wicket fielder. The MI skipper departs on 48 off 36.

    MI 95/1 (10.4)

  • 17 May 2022 / 10:25 PM

    Poor Bowling

This is not a good start for Umran Malik. he conceded 17 runs off his first over that saw him bowling a total of nine deliveries. He kept bowling short until he conceded a lot many runs to get back to bowling length balls.

    MI 78/0 (9)

  • 17 May 2022 / 10:11 PM

    Tight Bowling

Only 11 runs have come off the last two overs and SRH have managed to hold Mumbai Indians' cruising innings for a while. The required run rate is 10.62 which means Mumbai need at least one boundary per over.

    MI 56/0 (7)

  • 17 May 2022 / 10:02 PM

    Third SIX From Rohit

Rohit Sharma kneels down and plays a scoop shot on the ball of T Natarajan for a SIX over square leg. It's his third maximum of the night and early signs say that he is going to make SRH bowlers suffer today.

    MI 45/0 (5)

  • 17 May 2022 / 9:52 PM

3.1 - Another SIX from Rohit Sharma. He is looking in good touch today. It was a short ball from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rohit pulled it easily over deep mid-wicket for half a dozen.

Despite conceding a six on the first ball, Bhuvi gave only nien runs in the over.

    MI 29/0 (4)

  • 17 May 2022 / 9:46 PM

1.5 - A slower ball in the slot from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rohit Sharma hit it down the ground for a SIX. This will give him a lot of confidence.

Eight runs came off Bhuvi's first over.

    MI 10/0 (2)

    Second Innings Starts

Rohit Sharma has the new ball in hand, Ishan Kishan is at the other end. Left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi has the new ball in hand.

It's a tidy first over from Farooqi. He bowled as per the plan and conceded only two runs off it as both the MI batters didn't show any intent to hit him for boundaries.

    SRH Post 193/6

Only one boundary came in Jasprit Bumrah's last over and in the last 22 balls of SRH innings but still the side has got a good total on the board. This is a good batting surface and if Mumbai Indians can get off to a good start, they can stand a good chance.

    SRH 193/6 (20)

    SRH Search Boundaries

The last boundary for SRH came 16 balls ago and that will tell you how beautifully Mumbai Indians have bowled in the last three overs, especially after the departure of Rahul Tripathi. Jasprit Bumrah comes with the last over. Can SRH get past 200? Let's see...

    SRH 186/5 (19)

  • 17 May 2022 / 9:10 PM

Aiden Markram is gone on 2 off 4 balls. Ramandeep Singh gets his third wicket of the night and what an over this was from him. He conceded only two runs and claimed two wickets. MI must be having a sigh of relief after a long time.

    SRH 175/5 (18)

  • 17 May 2022 / 9:06 PM

    Tripathi Is Out!

Rahul Tripathi has been trapped by Ramandeep Singh on 76 off 44. It was a slower ball from Ramandeep and Tripathi mishit the ball to long-on and Tilak Varma made no mistake there.

    SRH 174/4 (17.2)

  • 17 May 2022 / 9:01 PM

Nicholas Pooran has been dismissed by Riley Meredith on 38 off 22 balls. It was a full length delivery on the pads that was flicked by Pooran at wide of square leg where Mayank Markande covered good ground and took a brilliant catch diving forward.

    SRH 172/3 (16.5)

  • 17 May 2022 / 8:54 PM

This is turning out to be one of the finest knocks of Rahul Tripathi. He hit Daniel Sams for a 104-metre SIX over long-on before showing his 360-degree class to fetch two more boundaries in the over. Superb batting! 16 runs came off the 16th over.

    SRH 164/2 (16)

  • 17 May 2022 / 8:49 PM

    SRH Eye Big Total

With a set Rahul Tripathi and in-form Nicholas Pooran at the crease, SRH should must target a total of over 200 runs. They also have Aiden Markram to come in next. Testing times for Mumbai Indians and their bowlers.

    SRH 148/2 (15)

  • 17 May 2022 / 8:42 PM

    Fifty For Tripathi

Rahul Tripathi races to his third fifty of the season in 32 balls. He has been a vital cog in SRH’s batting line-up and proves his worth once again. However, the work is not done yet and he should take SRH to a big total from here.

    SRH 143/2 (14)

  • 17 May 2022 / 8:37 PM

    Back-to-back SIXES

Nicholas Pooran is looking in great touch tonight. He smacked Riley Meredith for two consecutive SIXES in the 13th over. His strike rate is 191.7 currently and SRH must be hoping to stay him a bit longer at the middle.

    SRH 129/2 (13)

  • 17 May 2022 / 8:27 PM

    Nervous Sanjay Yadav

Sanjay Yadav, who is playing his maiden IPL game, is having a poor night. He has conceded 23 runs in his two overs and is also misfielding a lot. Remember he had dropped the catch of Priyam Garg early in the innings and he now misfielded a ball at fine leg that ran for a boundary.

    SRH 102/2 (11)

  • 17 May 2022 / 8:20 PM

Ramandeep Singh has broken the 78-run partnership as he dismissed Priyam Garg. The SRH batter played the full length delivery back to Ramandeep who took a really good catch on follow through. Garg departs on 42 off 26.

    SRH 96/2 (9.5)

  • 17 May 2022 / 8:15 PM

    SRH In Control

12 runs came off the second over of Mayank Markande. Mumbai Indians need to get a wicket at least here so that they could break this partnership or they should bowl some economical overs to control the run rate of SRH.

    SRH 89/1 (9)

  • 17 May 2022 / 8:10 PM

    Expensive Over

15 runs came off Sanjay Yadav's second over. This is brilliant batting from the duo of Rahul Tripathi and Priyam Garg. They are taking their chances now with minimum risks. Yet, the scoring rate of SRH is 9.62 per over.

    SRH 77/1 (8)

  • 17 May 2022 / 7:58 PM

    Catch Dropped!

5.2 - Priyam Garg has been dropped by Sanjay Yadav at square leg. He mishit a Daniel Sams delivery high in the air. While Sanjay got under the ball in time, he failed to take the catch.

11 runs came off the over.

    SRH 57/1 (6)

  • 17 May 2022 / 7:50 PM

    8-Run Over

Debutant Sanjay Yadav conceded two boundaries in his first over. Rahul Tripathi hit both of them. Tripathi knew Sanjay must be feeling the pressure so he used it to his advantage.

    SRH 31/1 (4)

  • 17 May 2022 / 7:44 PM

Abhishek Sharma is gone! He tried to play the full length ball on the leg side but it stuck on the pitch a bit before reaching him. As a result, Abhishek hit the ball high in the air and Mayank Markande took the catch easily. Daniel Sams gets the wicket.

    SRH 18/1 (2.4)

  • 17 May 2022 / 7:30 PM

    Change In Opening

Priyam Garg comes in to bat as an opener in place of Kane Williamson. Abhishek Sharma will take the strike. Daniel Sams has the new ball in hand. Here we go!

A good first over from Sams. He bowled in right areas, barring the fifth delivery which he sprayed on the pads of Garg and the ball went for a boundary.

    MI Bowl First

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has won the toss and opted to bowl first against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

  • 17 May 2022 / 6:51 PM

    Oh Williamson!

SRH head coach Tom Moody's decision to keep backing Kane Williamson as an opener has clearly not paid off. The Kiwi skipper has averaged at 18.9 this season and only slightly better than Rohit Sharma (18.2) among IPL captains.
