What happens when the romance goes out of a marriage? Kuch Luv Jaisa begins as a portrait of one such marriage on the verge of breakdown. Able actors like Shefali and Sumit, as the couple Madhu and Shravan, promise to hold interest. But the promise is undone minutes into the film. Madhu leaves her family on her birthday, gets a makeover and a bright red car, gives a lift to a mysterious, heartbroken crook Raghav (Rahul). Then on, it’s two polar opposites influencing each other. The narrative gets inane and the situations boring. Shefali is over-the-top in trying to be cute, playing with her hair and casting corner-of-the-eye glances at Rahul, who is badly miscast, looking too sophisticated for a tough crook.
