The 52nd Annual General Meeting, 8th Council Meeting & Technical Seminar of the Mining Engineers’ Association of India was held at Bhubaneswar on 18 and 19 July 2025. The two-day event brought together professionals, Policy-makers, researchers, academicians and representatives from MEAI chapters across the country, focused on the theme “Contribution of Mining and Allied Industry for Viksit Odisha 2036.”

The first day featured the National Council Meeting, Annual General Meeting, Annual Awards ceremony and installation of new National Council for the term 2025-27.

Shri S N Mathur, had successfully completed his Presidential tenure of MEAI from 2023-25 and was acknowledged for his leadership and contributions during the period. Shri Swagat Ray and Smt. Gunjan Pande were elected to the National Council for the upcoming term representing Ahmedabad Chapter.

Several professionals from the MEAI Ahmedabad Chapter were recognised during the awards ceremony for their consistent and meaningful contributions to the sector. Shri A K Garg, Shri Swagat Ray, Smt. Gunjan Pande, and Shri S C Jhagrawat were presented with the Service Excellence Award 2024. Ms. Rojali Dey and Ms. Jalpa Patel received the Sitaram Rungta Memorial Award 2024, while Shri Devesh Srivastava was honoured with the SRG Information Technology Award 2024.

Active Chapter Award 2024 was conferred upon Ahmedabad Chapter along with a special award for Celebration of Indian Mining Day by the Chapter.

These recognitions reflect efforts made in areas such as technical execution, sustainable mining, and the adoption of digital tools in mining operations. The awards were presented in the presence of MEAI’s national leadership, senior members, and delegates from across India.

The officials from Ahmedabad Chapter also marked their presence in the technical conference held in the second day, featuring sustainable resource management, mineral processing, digitalization and sectoral skilling. The deliberations highlighted evolving role of mining and allied industries in supporting long-term economic development, employment, and infrastructure growth of the state.

Hosted by the Bhubaneswar Chapter, the annual gathering offered a platform for professional exchange and underlined the association’s commitment to knowledge-sharing, policy dialogue, and responsible growth across the mining value chain.
