Retired Indian Cricketer Ambati Rayudu Pulls Out Of Major League Cricket Citing 'Personal Reasons'

After clinching the Indian Premier League 2023 with Chennai Super Kings, former India batter Ambati Rayudu was signed up for the inaugural Major League Cricket tournament in the USA.

In May, Rayudu had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in India.

However, Rayudu has decided to pull out from the tournament citing 'personal reasons. "Ambati Rayudu will not be available to participate in the first season of the MLC with Texas Super Kings due to personal reasons," Texas Super Kings said in a statement. 

The development comes at a time when the BCCI is mulling a cooling off period to prevent the trend of "pre-determined" retirement of Indian players.

In May, Rayudu had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in India.

Talking about the Major League Cricket T20 Tournament, it will be played in the USA from July 13 to 30. IPL franchisees including KKR, CSK and Mumbai Indians own teams in the competition.
