F1 British Grand Prix 2025 Highlights: Lando Norris won a chaotic, rain-soaked British Grand Prix at Silverstone, claiming his first home victory and cutting Oscar Piastri’s title lead to just eight points. Piastri was hit with a 10-second penalty for braking too hard behind the safety car, handing Norris the advantage. On the other side of the podium, Nico Hulkenberg pulled off a shock third-place finish from 19th--his first podium in 239 race starts. Max Verstappen, who started on pole, finished fifth after spinning. It was a brutal day for the rookies, with several crashing out in the tricky wet conditions. Verstappen still leads, but both McLarens are breathing down his neck--Norris just set the fastest lap and is four seconds behind.

Piastri briefly overtook Hamilton and is pushing hard, especially down Hangar Straight.

Rain is expected soon, adding more drama. It's Verstappen, Piastri, Norris, Hamilton, and Gasly in the top five for now.

Lap 19 of 52, and things are getting wild at Silverstone. Isack Hadjar is out of the race after a heavy collision with Andrea Kimi Antonelli--"From out of nowhere, man," was Hadjar’s radio message after slamming into the back of the Mercedes.

The water spray is brutal, visibility is minimal, and Hamilton is among those complaining he can’t see a thing.

Piastri had built a two-second gap over Verstappen, but the safety car is out once again, bunching up the field.

Oscar Piastri has been given a 10-second penalty for safety car infringement at the restart. boosting Lando Norris’ chances of winning at home but they are still are 3.6 seconds apart in lap 29/52

McLaren tells Norris not to follow Piastri into the pits. Meanwhile, Yuki Tsunoda also gets a penalty for hitting Bearman, and rookie Kimi Antonelli is out.

What remains surprising is that Lance Stroll is running third and is 10 seconds from Piastri.

Not only does Lewis Hamilton hold the all-time record for most wins (8) at Silverstone in Formula 1, but he also boasts an incredible 12-race podium streak at his home Grand Prix.

With the seven-time world champion yet to finish on the podium this season, he won't at least let that streak end today. As things stand, he's running fourth, just behind Nico Hulkenberg.

The sun has come out at Silverstone, but the track remains tricky. There’s still standing water, causing water sprays, Russell and Alonso are struggling in the back of the grid on P13 and 14.
