  • For the past few months, recruitment is going on in full swing for entertainment-based programming. These include four people from TV18, one from Siddharth Surabhi Kak's production house and a former guest coordinator from Shekhar Suman's Movers and Shakers. The aim is simple: build up celeb contacts. Staffers showing interest in entertainment have been shifted to the new division.

  • An ipo is being planned, bolstered by the recent sebi announcement of allowing dilution of 10 per cent by owners instead of the 25 per cent earlier with the aim of raising Rs 250 crore from the market. "It suits Roy perfectly. If he is launching a channel, then it justifies raising a huge amount like Rs 250 crore," says an industry source. Currently, five investors—Morgan Stanley, Jardine Fleming, Goldman Sachs, Reliance Capital and Lazards—hold about 19 per cent stake in ndtv. Even the valuation of the software production house is currently on.

  • Negotiations are also on with a host of Singapore- and-Hong Kong-based companies for a transponder with footprints spanning the subcontinent and nri-heavy regions.

  • A simultaneous emphasis on regional news and radio (read FM) continues.
