Sameer Rizvi (70) and Tristan Stubbs (39) put on a match-winning partnership to guide Delhi Capitals to a six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants, in match 5 of the IPL 2026 on Wednesday. DC who were jolted early on where they lost KL Rahul, Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana and Axar Patel before even crossing 30, had to thank Rizvi who come as an 'Impact Sub'.
For DC, their foreign import Lungi Ngidi took three wickets as did T Natarajan as Delhi Capitals bowled out Lucknow Super Giants to an underwhelming 141 runs. LSG’s big hitter Rishabh Pant, Mitch Marsh, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram failed with the bat as Abdul Samad’s 36 off 25 was the only highlight of their batting scorecard.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel had won the toss and elected to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants in the fifth match of Indian Premier League 2026, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday (April 1). Both teams had gone with three foreign batters and one overseas bowler in their respective playing XIs.
DC went with David Miller, Pathum Nissanka, Tristan Stubbs and Lungi Ngidi, while LSG picked Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran and Anrich Nortje. The hosts did not go for tearaway pacer Mayank Yadav, who has recovered from a lengthy injury layoff. The Capitals decided against including the much-talked-about Prithvi Shaw, meanwhile.
