About eight people, including three women, were severely injured after a lift snapped and fell from the fourth floor of a 16-storey building in a commercial complex in Mumbai’s Kamala Mills Compound area on Wednesday, officials said.

According to the Brihanmumbai Corporation (BMC), all the injured persons are stable.

The accident took place around 10.45 am in the C-wing of the Trade World building at Kamala Mills Compound, which houses several corporate offices, in the Lower Parel area, a BMC official told PTI.

There were at least 12-14 people on board the elevator at the time of collapse. As the wires snapped, the lift fell to the basement carrying the people onboard. A video shared online showed the aftermath of the incident.
