The Ghaziabad Police and administration have made elaborate arrangements for the 'Kanwar Yatra' undertaken by devotees in the holy month of 'Shrawan', a senior official said on Saturday.
The police will keep a hawk eye on the movement of the devotees returning from Haridwar after fetching holy Gangajal to offer lord Shiva in the temples at their respective places, they said.
To facilitate smooth movement of the devotees and avoid any untoward incident, the entire district has been divided into 12 zones, 26 sectors, 105 subsectors and 581 duty points. Apart from cops posted at police stations, 53 inspectors, 574 sub inspectors, 1,339 head constables and constables, and 144 constables of special security force SSF have been deployed for the purpose, the official said.

All DCPs and ACPs will be on patrolling duty in their assigned areas, the official added. As many as 1,000 CCTV cameras have been installed on including 80 watch towers on seven roads connecting Haridwar via Ghaziabad district. Surveillance cameras will also be installed on the roadside retiring camps for devotees.
Commissioner of Police Ajay Kumar Mishra said policemen with Insas and AK 47 rifles will be deputed on each watch tower to keep strict vigil round the clock. A total of 25 drones will also be pressed into duty to closely monitor the movement of the Kanwariyas. Two to three drones, as per requirement, will be allotted to every police station, Mishra said. There is a heavy flow of Kanwars in the month of Shravan who undertake journey to fetch Ganga water to offer to lord Shiva at their local temples.
